Hello! and thanks for visiting. I am an independant freelance consultant offering help and advice to businesses both large and small. I have a wealth of experience and a successful track record which is yours for the asking if you need assistance in setting up or developing your online business.
About Me
Since leaving school at the tender age of 16, I have gained 30 years experience in IT. In that time I have undertaken many varied roles:
- From apprentice to field service engineer for a Sussex based IT company (1981-1986).
- On-site hardware engineer at a Sussex based data centre and at BP Exploration in London (1986-1988).
- Worked as an onboard technician on Geophysical Survey ships around the world for a US based company (1988-1990).
- Undertook a 3 year project to install computer systems for Cable & Wireless in the West Indies (1990-1993).
- Helped setup a mobile network operator, MTN in South Africa, in the role of IT Manager (1994).
- Held various positions as a freelance Systems Manager for various large banks and other businesses in London, Brussels, and around the South-East of England. I also worked on various assignments for an IT Services company, Keltec (1995-2001).
- In 2000 I started offering ecommerce and website consultancy services to SMEs, specialising in Actinic Software's shopping cart software. I sold this business in 2008.
- During the same period, I also embarked on a joint venture to setup and run AccessoryStore, an online shop selling a variety of electronic accessories. I sold my share in this business in 2005 so that I could concentrate on a bigger venture.
- In 2004 I setup and ran a new business, Workwear House, selling workwear and promotional clothing. I gained invaluable experience and had a great deal of success promoting this business online. The website's impressive organic search engine placement helped the business to achieve a growing turnover and a healthy profit despite the economic downturn we have experienced in the last few years. I have recently sold this business (July 2011) in order that I can resume my earlier career path as an ecommerce consultant.
- And in addition to the above, from 1993 to 1997, I trained for and achieved a commercial pilots licence (frozen ATPL) and undertook some part-time flying instructor work for a while.
